Reno is generally the second-in-command of an organization known as the TURKS, a branch of the Shin-Ra Electric Power Company. The Turks are the Administrative Reaserch branch of Shinra, which ends up meaning something along the lines of dirty crooks, because Shinra is a power company bent on controlling the world!!

Reno fights with some weird rod (Electrical Rod), and he's not that difficult to beat, but damn, does that boy got have style. Furthermore, he's a little bit of a cocky s.o.b.--the way he stands in the fighting mode is slumped, lazy. He has a ton of personality and sometimes appears contradictory; he's a ruthless mercenary, comic relief, and a hard-drinker who doesn't let his job get in the way of a good time. Being a Turk for him is buisness, he's actually very professional. He knows how much he can get away with--a little attitude, adjustments to the dress code (he wears his shirt half-unbuttoned and nixes the tie), and he won't say no to liquor. Reno is a smooth customer, isn't afraid to say what he thinks, and is a smart-ass. But at the same time he is extremely loyal to the Turks, which encompasses loyalties to the President and loyalties to his groupies, though not without teasing them too. Reno has a real sense of job and duty, even if it doesn't always work out for him.

Reno is mostly portrayed as comic relief (see Advent Children for hilarious examples XD) and a hard-drinking, chain-smoking womanizer. His ruthless dedication to his job, his easy-going persona, flippiant attitude, and mocking sense of humor shows that he's also quite sure of himself if nothing else. In Advent Children, though he and his partner/buddy Rude help out Our Heroes, they mostly keep to themselves, supporting the President and Shinra, loyal to their own entity. We also learn in Advent Children that Reno likes explosives; and a newer, better computer animation style lets us see his priceless facial expressions~!


In fanon, Reno is given the reputation and track record of, well, a slut. Theories have been developed as to the root of this designation; many seem to feel that it stems from his casual apperence and fighting style, i.e., casual with his body in battle, casual with his body in social situations? Whatever the reason, though there is no outright mention to this promiscuous and loose sexual nature in canon, this character generalization somehow fits with Reno. It's a useful assumption in that it helps to flesh out his otherwise scanty canon character details, and allows a fanfic writer or rper to fill in otherwise sketchy details of his life and his character. I figured that this was worth mentioning, seeing as I use this character approach in my portrayal of Reno.
